Ok no more tennis...

Thu Dec 3, 2009, 5:52 AM
Long time no updates, I know. Well I haven't had allot to post about since I have been fighting a bad case (and my first ever) of Tennis Elbow. Man I had heard people talk about it but I never knew it could be so painful. It is finally getting better, it still hurts a bit but after some time off and totally redoing my work space to make it more supportive of my arm while I work it all seems to be helping.

I recently attended the first ever West Texas Comic Con in Lubbock. Truthfully I wasn't expecting it to be much but it turned out to be a really good time. Will Terrell :iconwillterrell: was one of the organizers and they did a awesome job. There was some media atention and I even got shown in a little clip they did about it. You can view it and listen to my Texas accent here [link]

On the work front I have a couple of small private jobs I am doing for some friends or individuals. I also am going to be coloring Spartacus: Blood & Sand 3&4 from Devil's Due based on the upcoming Starz TV series of the same name. If you liked 300 and the HBO series Rome it looks like you will dig Spartacus.

Also a few months ago I worked on a webcomic called Soldiers that has finally launched [link] I was pretty fun to do overall and I learned a few things along the way. Not only is it avaliable as a web comic but you can get the iPhone/iPod app at the iTunes App Store.

Ok think that is all for now, I will try and update the gallery soon with some of the stuff I have been doing.

Outta Time and Baeg Tobar

Fri Oct 2, 2009, 8:31 AM
Well it looks like my membership ran out again :(

Funds are a bit tight right now so if anyone donates me at least a 3 month Membership I will be willing to do a Greyscale Sketch or single figure coloring commission (color commission means you provide the lines you want me to color).

Now onto some other news. My friend Jeremy Mohler :iconjermohler: has launched his personal project that he has been working on for a long time. I have been lucky enough to work on some of the project, along with allot of other really talented people, so I would highly encourage you to go check it out!!! [link]

I will be uploading some of the art I have colored for it shortly.

Marvel-Disney and other stuff

Tue Sep 1, 2009, 9:12 AM
First off let me say I think that the Marvel-Disney thing is great!!!

Everything I have heard (I even listened to the Conference Call yesterday) indicates that the deal will leave Marvel alone to continue running as they are, much the way that Pixar is left alone. So all of you fearing that Disney is going to step in and de-claw Wolvie or what ever really need to chill and think about all the positive things that could come from this.

First with Marvel now backed by the Disney name/money/power it will put Marvel (and hopefully comics in general) into a much bigger, public Spotlight. If anyone has even remotely looked they can see that Comic readership is at it's lowest in a long time, if not ever, so something needs to happen to help boost this back up, and this could do it.

Hopefully it offers is a chance for Marvels great "All Ages" books to get out there to kids, who are the ones we need to get interested in comics so as they grow so does their comic reading. That is how I started out, reading the more "kid" comics and as I got older I found stuff like Judge Dread, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the originals) etc... Right now there are some great comics out there aimed at the older audience (from teens up to adults) and there are some great kid friendly comics too, the only problem is that there is no easy access for those kids to get interested in them like there used to be.

Eventually we may even see comics back in convenience and grocery stores, which would ROCK!!!

Ok enough Marvel/Disney Pro-ranting ;P On to other things.

Dallas Comic-Con was a blast (sorry I am so late on posting about it). I had a great time hanging out with old friends and new friends alike. I stayed with :iconwildturkey99: :iconm-u-d-c-a-t: :iconsketchartist76: and it was a good time. It was great to meet David and Chris and get to hang out with Gary more than we have gotten to in the past.

As far as the Con it was great. This was the most packed I have seen it since I have started attending it. There were some really top names there like :iconj-scott-campbell: and :iconmbreitweiser::icondismang: who are always great to see and talk with. Watching what Mitch does makes me sick, but only because I can't do it o_O. I also picked up the Awesome calender that :iconj-scott-campbell: & :iconbakanekonei: did.

I was sitting next to my usual Partners in Crime :iconmchampion: :iconcovens-oz:and much fun was had (and made of) by all.

Ok back to work.

p.s. some of the Marvel-Disney mash-up pics are pretty funny though

Hey all,

I have hit a little bit of a financial snag and could really use some help. I don't like to ask for help if there is any way to avoid it but right now things are a little tight. Due to some slow paying jobs our finances are being stretched almost to the breaking point so I am swallowing my pride and asking for some help.

I am not asking for a hand out though, I would like to open commissions up and see if I can raise some funds that way.

So here is the deal -

Commissions:

SketchCards:
Greyscale or Color $10 + $2 postage
Example

Head Shot/Bust:
Pencils/inks $10
Colors +$10
Example

Single figure:
Pencils/inks $30
Colors +$30
Example

Color Commission:
Single Character, minimal BG $30
Addition Character or Detailed BG +$15 each
Example

If you would like the original (and, if your are getting it colored a full color 11x17 print) of your commission then you would just need to pay for postage.

If you would like anything else please ask me for a quote.

PayPal accepted

Note me with Character Request (and shipping info if needed)

Thanks in advance for your help.
